Icon readers: With college basketball season now in full swing, I have decided to publish a weekly podcast that will give listeners inside access to the Ohio Northern men’s basketball team.

Alongside my co-host (and four-year roommate) Brandon Hawkins, who is also a senior on the team, we will do weekly player interviews as well as breakdowns of each game. We will detail the ups and downs of the season, from the perspective of guys who are on the court and in the locker room every day.

All about treading water for a good cause

The Ohio Northern men's and women's swimming and diving teams joined teams from across the country to break the Guiness Book of World Records mark for the most people treading water at the same time.

The Polar Bears participated in the event on Sept. 27 at the ONU Sports Center.

The team raised more than $7,000 in donations for Swim Cambodia in order to train lifeguards and help save children there. In Cambodia it cost about $2 in order to teach someone CPR. The donation dollars will help train the trainers in Cambodia in order to stop its leading source of death of young children, drowning.

Decorating a Spirit Tree in McIntosh Center are (from left) Madison Hudson, Jenna Giacomin, and Tori Middlebrooks. Sporting a lot of orange, of course, the Spirit Tree is meant for each campus organization to add an ornament to In order to show their spirit. Northern has well over 100 student organizations. This is the third year for the Spirit Tree, a holiday decor organized by residence life. VIEW THE NEXT PHOTO TO SEE THE ENTIRE TREE. (Monty Siekerman photos)
