The Town and Gown Banquet, which celebrates the connection between Ada and Ohio Northern University, will be held Monday, Nov. 6 in the McIntosh Center. Highlights of the evening are the presentation of the Distinguished Citizen Award and the welcoming of newcomers to the community.

 Distinguished Citizen Award nominations may be submitted online at www.onu.edu/towngownor by downloading the form from that site and sending to Katie Fitzgerald, ONU office of Human Resources, 525 S. Main St., Ada, or [email protected]. The nomination deadline is Oct. 18.

Guest artist Staff Sgt. Mike Forbes will present a tuba recital at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 5 in Presser Hall.. The event is free and open to the public. He will be accompanied by Eric Jenkins on piano.

 

Forbes began his career as a tubaist with the U.S. Army Band. He is associate lecturer of low brass at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. Jenkins is a collaborative pianist and vocal coach at Emory University and Kennesaw State University.

It was the 9th and 10th grade girls pitted against the 11th and 12th grade girls in a game organized to raise funds for the Junior Class for prom. The upperclassmen won in a blowout: 61-0.

Voting took place today for Ada High School Homecoming King and Queen with the results to be announced at pregame on Friday, about 6:30 p.m.

The royalty will be selected from among the senior candidates.

Dr. Jo Ann Scott, long time member of the ONU Political Science program and founding member of the Criminal Justice program, has died.

Chair of the Department of History, Political Science, and Geography, Rob Alexander released the following statement: "Our colleague and friend, Dr. Jo Ann Scott passed away yesterday after a brief illness.

Jo Ann retired in 2015 and left her mark on the Department and Ohio Northern. Her most noteworthy accomplishments include the creation of the Criminal Justice major at ONU as well as establishing and coaching the Mock Trial team on campus for many years.

The Ada Area Chamber of Commerce Harvest and Herb Festival Queen Committee would like to give a huge thank you to Mike and Marie Gossman for helping to decorate the float again this year and for escorting our 2017 Harvest and Herb Queen and her court in the 32nd Annual Ada Area Chamber of Commerce Harvest and Herb Festival parade.
