All day fun: August 13 Farmers & Merchants Picnic

One of Ada's oldest traditions will be observed on Saturday, August 13: The 109th Farmers & Merchants Picnic. Join in the fun throughout the day. The parade begins at 9:30 a.m. Raffle prize drawings (6:00 p.m.) and Picnic Pull (6:30 p.m.) are part of the evening's festivities. Check here for everything in between.

Reminder: Fabulous 5th choral celebration

Noteworthy Community Choir will celebrate 5 years as an organization by sharing music selections from each of their performance seasons at a Sunday concert in Harrod.

  • 3:00 p.m., August 14 
  • County Line Church of the Brethren, 4227 N Hardin Rd, Harrod

Tickets are $10 each and include a dessert and drink at intermission.

OSU program aims to increase number of doctors serving rural areas

COLUMBUS, Ohio – In an effort to increase the number of physicians caring for patients in mid-size and rural communities, The Ohio State University College of Medicine is partnering with Bon Secours Mercy Health to launch a new community medicine medical degree track to prepare physicians to practice medicine in less densely populated areas.

TINKER AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. - Ada native Cole East is serving in the U.S. Navy as part of the nation’s nuclear deterrence mission at Strategic Communications Wing One (STRATCOMMWING ONE), in a mission provides airborne communication links to nuclear missile units of U.S. Strategic Command.

Ann Hersey, Food Service Director for Ada Exempted Village School, has provided the following menu planner for easy reference during the 2022-2023 school year.

Each week is represented by a color and represents a 4-week cycle menu. A printable pdf version is attached.

Breakfast:

  • $1.75 Reduced $.30
  • Breakfast will be served from 7:30 – 8:00
  • Breakfast will not be served on a 2-hour delay

State Route 81 closure near Dunkirk

ODOT District 1 has issued the following highway construction update for the week of August 15. Outlined work is weather permitting.

State Route 81 on the east side of Township Road 125, approximately one mile west of the village if Dunkirk, will close on Monday, August 15, for approximately two days for a culvert replacement.

TRAFFIC IMPACT
Detour: U.S. 68 to SR 701 to SR 235 back to SR 81 (see attached map).
