Ada Council: Nov. 16 agenda, calendar, Nov. 2 minutes

The Village of Ada has posted a packet for the Regular Council Meeting to be held at 6:30 p.m. on November 16 in the Village Hall council chambers, 115 West Buckeye Ave. The packet includes the meeting agenda and minutes from the Nov. 2 council meeting.

Council meetings can be joined online via https://teams.live.com/meet/93507018157446. Village of Ada Regular Council Meetings are held on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of every month at 6:30 pm. 

Heidelberg edges ONU 33-32 in Bendekovic Bowl

The 11th annual Bendekovic Bowl may have been the most exciting in the series.

There were three touchdowns scored in the game's final 1:45, including the game-winner with just eight seconds left as Heidelberg edged Ohio Northern 33-32 on Saturday afternoon, Novembrer 13, at Dial-Roberson Stadium.

The Polar Bears end their season 4-6 overall and finished 3-6 in the Ohio Athletic Conference, while the Student Princes end their season at 8-2, 7-2.

Senior Brody Hahn (Louisville) threw a 14-yard touchdown pass to junior Jette Morgan (Wooster) with 45 seconds left to give ONU a 33-28 lead.

Women's CC 7th of 37 at NCAA III Great Lakes Regional Championships

The Ohio Northern women's cross country team placed seventh of 37 teams at the NCAA III Great Lakes Regional Championships on Saturday afternoon at Blue River Memorial Park.

Senior Tessa Pitcovich (Stow/Munroe Falls) qualified for the NCAA III Championships next weekend in Louisville, Ky., with a fifth place finish out of 266 runners in a career-best 22:08 over the 6,000-meter course.

Her 22:08 finish moves her up to fourth all-time in ONU history for 6,000-meters.

Pitcovich and senior Taylor Ellerbrock (Columbus Grove) earned All-Great Lakes region honors with top-35 finishes, as Ellerbrock crossed in 20th place in a career-low 22:43.

Book Review: Robin Cook's "Viral"

With a name like "Viral," you'd expect this book to be about COVID-19. But in Robin Cook's 2021 release (Penguin Random House, $27.00, ISBN: 978-0-5933-2829-3) the title refers to an encroaching wave of an even deadlier disease without a vaccine to protect those exposed to it.

Local veterans honored by Ada Schools

Ada Schools students and staff served 42 veterans at the 2021 Veterans Breakfast. Mr. Toby Smith, Ada high school teacher and football coach, was the year’s speaker.

In a democracy, should elected representatives listen to the will of the
people?

State Senators Matt Huffman (Allen County) and Rob McColley (Hardin County)
say no.

They've proposed new election maps that don't fairly represent Ohioans.
Instead, these rigged districts continue the "gerrymandering" that means that
in many Ohio elections, the winner is pre-determined.
