The Ohio Northern women's track team had an impressive showing as the No. 11-ranked Polar Bears claimed first place at the Marv Frye Inviational on Saturday afternoon at Ohio Wesleyan University.

The Polar Bears improve to 47-3 with the first place finish.

Sophomore Maddy Reed (Lucasville/Piketon) posted a record-setting day to lead ONU at the meet.

The Polar Bears had three athletes finish in the top-3 in the pole vault as Reed led the way.

The sophomore won the event with a school-record leap of 12' 8.25", while junior Kelly Wollenslegal and freshman Magie Krause each tied for third place with a height of 11' 1.75".

The senior BFA/BA exhibit is now on view at the Elzay Gallery of Art through May 7. The pieces are based on a full-year of producing a thematically focused body of work as part of the required senior capstone experience.

Kristie Steiner, Ada elementary art teacher, might have to open a restaurant. Her fourth grade art students recently completed a clay food project that looks good enough to eat. "Student chose what food item they wanted to create, practice making it with modeling clay, and then create it with the real clay. After they were fired, they painted them to look as real as they could. This is a challenging project as they are using multiple clay techniques and some experimentation as well. They turned out great and the students had fun."

New fellowship hall will provide space for children, dinners and outreach

Grace Gospel Church broke ground Sunday for a 40- by 80-addition.

The new fellowship hall will provide space for children's ministries. The multipurpose area will be large enough to host outreach events and church dinners.

Pastor Trent Boedicker said, "The project of building a larger fellowship hall began as a dream a little more than two years ago, but through prayer, seeking the Lord's wisdom and guidance, it has become more than a dream, but a possibility.

"When Grace Gospel Church was built, in 1939, it was established on the foundation of our Savior, Jesus Christ, and this continues to be true for our ministries today."

The central plant serves Biggs, science annex, Meyer, Mathile, College of Pharmacy, English Chapel and Heterick Library.

The area impacted is between the College Pharmacy building, the chapel and Heterick Library.

Sophomore Joshua Turich(Centerville) tied his career-low 18- and 36-hole rounds to help the Ohio Northern men's golf team rally to a second place finish at the OAC Spring Invitational Sunday-Monday at Cumberland Trails Golf Club.

The Polar Bears improve to 35-30-1 on the season.

Turich fired a 77-77—154 to equal his performance in the OAC Fall Invitational, where his 77-77—154 were career his 18- and 36-hole lows.

His 154 in the OAC Spring Invitational tied him for 14th out of 55 golfers.
