OhioMeansJobs Hardin County and Hardin County Chamber and Business Alliance will hold a Hardin County Job Fair and Hiring Expo from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., Tuesday, March 3, at Hardin County Fairgrounds, Community Building, 14134 County Road 140, Kenton.

The morning session is limited to Hardin County students only. 

Over 40 employers, agencies and education providers will be on site and hiring full-time, part-time and seasonal positions. 

Job seekers should bring resumes and dress for on-the-spot interviews. Door prizes will also be given away at the event. 

Corsie Arn, Ada branch operations manager of Liberty National Bank, was recognized for her many years at treasurer of the Ada Area Chamber of Commerce.

She was presented with an appreciation award from Deb Curlis and Heather Cox during the chamber’s annual luncheon on Feb. 19.

Arn has served as treasurer of the chamber during the years of her membership on the board. Her term expired in December.

The Hardin County Astronomy Club will meet tonight, Feb. 21, at 7 p.m. at the McGuffey multipurpose room, behind the post office on Courtright Street.  If weather conditions allow, there may be some observing if sky conditions allow. Otherwise, the club will have a program.

Historian Anne Hyde will read from and discuss her award-winning book, Empires, Nations, and Families: A New History of the North American West, 1800-1860, at 7 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 24, in the Wilson Building Elzay Art Gallery at Ohio Northern University. The event is free and open to the public.

Hyde's book was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in History and won the Bancroft Prize, the most important award in the field of American history.

 

Talk at the ONU College of Law on Monday

Emily Buss will discuss “The law’s role in raising children” at 4 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 24, in the large moot courtroom (room 129) in the Ohio University College of Law. Her talk, which is part of the ONU College of Law’s Kormendy Lecture Series, is free and open to the public.

Buss’ research interests include children’s and parents’ rights as well as the legal system’s allocation of responsibility for children’s development among parent, child and state. She has worked as a staff attorney in the Child Advocacy Unit of the Maryland Legal Aid Bureau and with the Juvenile Law Center in Philadelphia, serving as the center’s director from 1993 to 1996.
