WEATHER & TRAVEL ADVISORY: HARDIN COUNTY & CENTRAL OHIO

HARDIN COUNTY SHERIFF ALERT__​The persistent heavy rainfall and saturated soil conditions across Hardin County and the broader central Ohio region continue to create severe, localized travel hazards. With local waterways swollen, drainage systems fully-taxed, and standing water lingering on secondary routes, motorists are strongly advised to remain vigilant.

The Village of Ada Council met in regular session on August 18. The meeting was conducted by Mayor Dave Retter with all council members present. The meeting packet is here. Two executive sessions were held to discuss employment and economic development. No action followed the executive session on economic development.

ADA__The Ada High School boys soccer team scored late to defeat visiting Bath 2-1 in a tense non-league battle on Wednesday, August 19 at War Memorial Stadium.

The Bulldog boys improved to 2-0 with the tight win.

“Getting this win is especially meaningful for our seniors,” said third-year Ada head coach Aaron Acheson. “This is the first time this group has beaten Bath, so I am really happy for them.”

Bath junior Levi Grime scored at the 32-minute mark to put the Wildcats ahead, 1-0.

Senior Andrew Allen netted the first Ada goal at the 27:57 juncture on an assist from classmate Chase Jarrett to tie it up, 1-1.

McGUFFEY__The visiting Ada High School volleyball team opened up its season with a hard-fought sweep of local arch-rival Upper Scioto Valley on Wednesday, August 19 at Alumni Fieldhouse.

The win commemorated the debut of Kylie Murphy as Ada head coach after she previously served for several years as a Bulldog assistant.

In 1972, singer-songwriter Jackson Browne released "Doctor, My Eyes," which reached number 8 in the United States and number 4 in Canada.  Jackson Browne started with the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band early in his career and left the group shortly after. He continues to entertain and is known for his political activism. Browne was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2004.
