ADA__The Ada High School softball team opened its 2024 campaign with a decisive 14-0 shutout over county rival Hardin Northern Monday, on March 25.
The Bulldogs start out 1-0 with the non-league victory.
The Polar Bears, under new head coach Rob Overs, who served as an Ada assistant the past two seasons, are 0-1.
Junior Jenna Bassitt struck out 14 Polar Bears and allowed just one hit in hurling a five-inning shutout.
“The pitching was good,” Ada head coach Jeff Bassitt. “It is nice to get the first win, but we still have a lot of work to get done. Hardin Northern has a nice young team with a lot of potential.”

Gervens Justilien has been charged with Murder by the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office related to the death of Chrislande Auguste on March 10, 2024 in American Township, Allen County, Ohio.
Gervens' whereabouts are still unknown. The Detective Bureau is working with federal law enforcement partners in attempt to locate Gervens. Anybody with any information related to his whereabouts is asked to immediately contact the Allen County Sheriff’s Office at 419-227-3535 or 911.

Mrs. Julie Simmons has been selected as the new Ada Exempted Village Schools district superintendent. The announcement was made by Ron Fleming, the Board of Education President. The board is expected to approve the new superintendent's contract at a special board of education meeting; the date is yet to be determined.
