Several former pastors will return for the service

On Sunday, Oct. 2,  First Baptist Church, Ada, celebrates 150 years of ministry, according to Jack Duffy, pastor.

On Sunday a worship service of singing hymns and communion take place at 10:15 a.m. followed by a barbecue chicken and pulled-pork dinner.

Several former pastors will attend the service. These include Bob Cassidy (1988-1990), Charles Spier (1963-1968) and Byron Hawbecker (interim 1991-1992). Former ONU students who attended will be coming as well.

The church's first gathering was on Oct. 2, 1866, at a meeting in the Union Church (now First Presbyterian Church of Ada) to organize a Baptist church.

Ada rained out at O-G

OTTAWA - The Ada girls tennis team had its makeup match at Ottawa-Glandorf rained out Wednesday.

If the girls are on the field for a powderpuff football game, who does that leave to be the cheerleaders? These brave souls: Reece Evans, Alex Morgan, Ethan Hull...but their nail polish leaves a bit to be desired. Work on it guys. BOTTOM PHOTO: Cookies anyone? Elizabeth Durkin thinks it's a hoot that Andrew Roff volunteers to sell sweets at the powderpuff football game...so she bought some and got a good laugh, too. The game was Sunday evening. Here's a neat post from the Michael Harnishfeger, Ada Police Chief. It's from the police department's Facebook posted Tuesday:

Today while walking the halls of Ada school I discovered that it was Heroes and Villains Day.

Carisa Temple is a big fan of police and honored our profession by wearing her own police uniform. Carisa's uncle is a law enforcement professional with the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Thanks Carisa, glad we are the heroes and not the villains :)

Always a pleasure to interact with our youth. The future is bright in Ada, Ohio.
