ONU wrestling season opens Nov. 17
The Ohio Northern wrestling team will open its 2012-13 season on Nov. 17 at the Olivet (Mich.) Duals tournament.
The Polar Bears, under 25th-year head coach Ron Beaschler, will open their home schedule on Dec. 1 with the 32nd annual ONU Invitational.
Northern will begin the defense of its Ohio Athletic Conference Regular Season title on Jan. 15 with a home dual meet against Muskingum.
ONU will also travel to Mount Saint Joseph, Washington & Lee (Va.) and NCAA Division I foe Davidson (N.C.) for non-conference duals and will compete in tournaments at Indianapolis, Ind., Williamsport, Pa., Alma, Mich., and Wheaton, Ill.
The Polar Bears will also host Manchester (Ind.) and Baldwin-Wallace in dual meet action.
In a new development this season, there will not be an OAC Tournament, but qualifications for the NCAA III Championships will be through Regional tournaments, which will be held March 2 at six sites across the nation at sites yet to be determined.
The NCAA III Championships will be March 15-16 at a site to be announced.
Ohio Northern finished 12-4 and were a perfect 5-0 in OAC action in 2011-12.
