Ruth E. Turner, age 86, died Friday, July 13, 2012 at 12:53 PM at Baton Rouge Nursing Home, Lima.
She was born on Nov. 7, 1925 in Union County, Ohio to Herman and Sylvia (Moore) Schmelzer and they preceded her in death. Upon their death Ruth was raised by Milford & Paula Schmelzer, who also preceded her in death. She was raised as a sister to cousin Anne Schmelzer Mahaffey. She married Lyman Turner and he preceded her in death.
Ruth was a home health caregiver. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Ada and a member of the United Methodist Women of Ada.
Surviving are a half-sister, Linda Beatty of West Virginia; three cousins: Robert Kirchner of Arlington, Va., Adel (Bob) Graham of Miami, Fla. and Anne Mahaffey of Upper Sandusky.
She was preceded in death by a half brother and sister-in-law, John David and Anna Schmelzer.
A funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 17, at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada with Rev. Mary Jo Yeakel officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Ada.
Friends may call one hour prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Ada.
