Softball is life for 2012 Ada High School graduate, Lindsay Simmons. She spent many summers playing for multiple traveling softball teams where lengthy tournaments are scheduled every weekend.
Lindsay also participated in “Fall Ball” in the autumn to continue to improve her game in the off-season. Clearly, Lindsay’s dedication paid off as she was named a starter for the Ada Lady Bulldogs Varsity Softball team her freshman year.
Her persistent hard-work continued to provide success because at the end of Lindsay’s senior year, she was voted Player of the Year in the Northwest Conference as a second baseman. Lindsay believes this was the greatest achievement she experienced during her high school career.
Further notice was taken of Lindsay’s skill when she decided to attend Ohio Northern University; the softball team’s staff was pleased to have her join.
While Lindsay was busy with year-round softball, she still made time for her studies and additional extra-curricular activities. She also played volleyball and basketball and was a member of the FFA, National Honor Society and was named Salutatorian of her graduating class.
Ohio Northern University was an easy choice for Lindsay. She grew up at the college constantly attending events on campus with her dad, Tom Simmons, the school’s Athletic Director. Over the years, she watched competitive teams play, met players, worked out at the facilities and become familiar with her future school. About playing college softball, Lindsay says she is “super excited and nervous.” She is ready to work hard and wants continue her success in college.
Lindsay will be majoring in business and sports management. In 10 years, she hopes to be working for a major league baseball team. You can find her around ONU this summer as a member of the paint crew, keeping the campus clean and beautiful. She is the daughter of Tom and Julie Simmons.
