English professor’s work to appear in ‘Best New Poets 2012’
“As a Debutante I Adjusted My Hatpin,” a poem by Dr. Jennifer Moore, Ohio Northern University assistant professor of creative writing, has been selected to appear in “Best New Poets 2012,” which will be published this November.
“Best New Poets” is published annually by the University of Virginia Press to highlight the work of emerging poets. It is sponsored by Meridian, the University of Virginia’s literary magazine.
Each year, a guest editor selects 50 poems from nominations made by literary magazines and writing programs as well as from entries in an online Open Competition. Only 50 poems are accepted for publication in the volume out of more than 1,700 submitted. Selections are blind juried.
Moore’s poetry has previously been published in Barrow Street, Hayden’s Ferry Review, Transom, Columbia Poetry Review and elsewhere. Her literary criticism has appeared in Jacket2 and The Offending Adam. Moore holds degrees from the University of Colorado and the University of Illinois at Chicago.
