No. 16 Mount Union rallies past Volleyball 3-1 in OAC contest

No. 16-ranked Mount Union rallied for a 20-25, 25-16, 25-22, 25-23 Ohio Athletic Conference volleyball victory over Ohio Northern at Saturday afternoon at Mount Union Stadium.
The Polar Bears fall to 17-4 overall and 1-1 in Ohio Athletic Conference, while the Purple Raiders improve to 14-4, 1-0.
Senior Ellen Grenert had 11 kills and senior Kelsie Zumberger had 34 assists and 14 digs to lead Ohio Northern.
Nicole Snyder had a match-high 18 kills for Mount Union.
In Set 1, the Polar Bears used a 7-1 run to turn a 15-12 lead into a commanding 22-13 lead.
MtU jumped to a quick 4-1 lead, then scored the final six points to win 25-16 and even the match at one set apiece.
In Set 3, Northern used an early 9-1 run to take a 9-4 lead. But MtU scored six of the final eight points to rally for the win.
ONU scored seven consecutive points in Set 4 to go up 17-14, but the hosts rallied to even the match at 18-all. MtU then scored four of the final five points to rally from a 22-21 deficit to win 25-23.
Mt. Union held a 68-41 advantage in kills, but had 28 errors to just 18 for Ohio Northern. MtU hit .207 for the match, while ONU hit .129.
The Polar Bears will return home next Saturday with a 1:30 pm contest against Baldwin Wallace at the ONU Sports Center as part of Ohio Northern's Homecoming Weekend.
