No.19 Women's Soccer wins OAC opener 3-0 over Mount Union

The No. 19 Ohio Northern women's soccer team opened their OAC season successfully defeating Mount Union 3-0 at the ONU Soccer Field on Saturday.
With their first conference win of the year Ohio Northern women's soccer team moves to 6-0-3 overall and 1-0-0 in the OAC, while Mount Union is 6-3-0 overall and 0-1-0 in conference.
ONU scored twice in the first half with the first goal coming from junior Sami Atkinson.
Senior Lindsey Gilchrist and Sophomore Kristina Klusek got the assist on the goal.
Freshman Alex Weirich knocked in a loose ball off of a corner kick to put ONU up 2-0.
The assist went to senior Tara Tokar and junior Lauren Brown.
In the second half, junior Sandy Plunkett added to the Polar Bears lead with her fourth goal of the season.
Junior Abbie Schauble picked up the assist off the corner kick on the play.
Senior goalie Erin Waehner added another shutout to her season for a total of five this year.
The Polar Bears took 23 shots on the goal compared to four for the Purple Raiders.
Ohio Northern will be in action again on Wednesday when they travel to Bexley to take on Capital in a key OAC contest.
