Council will interview potential council candidates next week

Ada council will hold two meetings in executive session next week to interview potential council candidates. These sessions were set during the Oct. 20 council meeting.

The Monday, Oct. 26, meeting, originally set for 6:30 p.m. was moved to 6 p.m., according to an announcement made on Friday.

The second meeting remains set at noon, Wednesday, Oct. 28.

Letters of interest for the council mid-term vacancy were due by 4:30 p.m., Friday.  The vacancy came about on the death of council member Don Fleming. Click here for details about the opening.

First induction ceremony on Honors Day in Spring 2021

Ohio Northern University has been accepted into the National College Athlete Honor Society as the Ohio Omega Chapter of Chi Alpha Sigma (XAΣ), which recognizes student-athletes from accredited four-year NCAA, NAIA, NCCAA, and USCAA institutions who excel in both the classroom and competition.

Chi Alpha Sigma, a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, was founded in 1996 by then DePauw University head football coach Nick Mourouzis.

His goal was to provide outstanding student-athletes with an opportunity to become connected within a fraternal association that aligns their educational and athletic successes for a lifetime.

I was hoping someone would publicly address the dropoff situation going on at the Ada school. It was a good idea, but wasn't researched enough. The school didn't take into consideration, that there were three lanes of vehicles dropping off students, in the front of the school.

Now, all lanes have been condensed into one long lane, with a minimum of an eight-minute wait to get students to their classes. The school just announced to students that tardiness, due to the dropoff restrictions will no longer be excused.

Health data released yesterday led the Ohio Department of Health to designated Hardin County as being in a Red Alert Level 3 as defined by the Ohio Public Health Advisory System. 

New health data found that 38 counties currently have a very high risk of exposure and spread (Red Level 3), up from 29 counties last week. 

This represents the highest number of Red Level 3 counties since the launch of the advisory system in July.
