Ronald E. “Ron” Curtis, age 76, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2020, at 12:40 a.m. at Mercy Health-St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima.

He was born on July 29, 1944, in Lima, Ohio to the late Earl and Fern (Shields) Curtis.  On November 26, 1969 Ronald married Kathy Knupp and she survives in Lima.

Ronald retired from Dana Corporation. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran who served from 1963 to 1965.  He was a member of the Eagles Post #370 of Lima. Ronald loved to golf, play cards and watch his grandchildren play sports.

The Mercantile on Main, 117 S. Main St., Ada, now offers custom order apparel, according to Gail Alstaetter.

The store added the service following the closing of Reichert’s, which had previously provided this service. 

“We can supply apparel for team, groups, businesses and family gatherings,” said Alstaetter. “We can use art work already developed or work with customers to create art work for apparel.”

It's time for art at Ready, Set, Grow Community Preschool in Ada. The school year is now underway and masks on students are this fall's fashion statment.

Quest Federal Credit Union is sponsor of a Hardin County Half Marathon, which includes options for a 25-mile bike ride, 5K and 1-mile fun run/walk in October.

The event is Saturday, Oct. 24, and proceeds benefit United Way of Hardin County.

Here are starting times for each of the events, with the start at the north side of the Hardin County Court House in Kenton:

7:30 a.m. – 25-mile bike ride
7:45 a.m. – Half Marathon 
8 a.m. – Half Marathon walkers
8:15 a.m. – 5K run/walk
8:30 a.m. – 1 mile fun run and walk

Hardin County Players invite Icon viewers to a Saturday, Oct. 3, “A Walk among the Tombstones,” at Grove Cemetery in Kenton.

Tours begin at 1 p.m. Tickets are $10 per person or $15 per couple and may be purchased online by clicking here.

RAWSON - The Ada girls soccer team trailed by only a goal at halftime, but ended up losing 7-0 at Cory-Rawson Wednesday evening.

Ada fell to 2-7 overall and 1-2 in North Central Ohio Soccer Association action with the defeat. C-R improved to 6-4 overall and 2-1 in NCOSA play with the win.

Lanie Kempf scored the first goal 12:05 into the fray on an assist from Zoe Chisholm. 

The Lady Hornets then poured on a six-goal barrage in the second half to put the game out of reach.
