ONU and the Village of Ada hosted a Tree Commission Academy on Wednesday and Thursday at the Mathile Center.

Twelve members of tree commissions from five northwest Ohio communities participated. Topics covered during the academy included tree biology, urban forestry, ordinances, marketing, and scheduling.

Ken Collins tooks a night cruise around Ada with his camera. He found some amazing Christmas lights. The Icon will share many of them with viewers until Christmas. Here's our first installment.

Let's get serious and talk spring, such as picnics in the park.

The temperature reached a record high of 68 degrees on Saturday afternoon, Dec. 12. Enjoying lunch at War Memorial Park are Griffin Martin, 4, with Ashley Dearth and Thomas Robinson.

Others in the park enjoying temperatures in the high 60s were some youngsters having fun kicking leaves around. 

Ada village council will act on legislation to enter an agreement for engineering and related services for the ONU storm extension project during Tuesday's council meeting.

Additional items on Tuesday's agenda are in the council packet in an attachment at the bottom of this story.

The meeting is at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 15, in Room 205 of the First United Methodist Church, Ada.

Elsie Mae Hubbell Tressel died on Saturday, Dec. 12, 2015, at Richland Manor. Elsie was born July 17, 1921, to the late Sam and LaVonne Rowles Hubbell on the family farm in Ada. 

She married Kenneth D. Tressel on March 15, 1941, in Hattiesburg, Miss., while Ken was serving in the Army. They lived in Ada for the next 62 years until Ken died in 2002.  She was at the family home in Ada until October of 2015.
