Hurricane Sandy affects ONU sports teams' schedules
By Tim Glon
High winds, heavy rains and snow from Hurricane Sandy have forced several changes in the Ohio Athletic Conference Volleyball and Men's Soccer Tournament schedules this week.
The No. 3-seeded Ohio Northern volleyball team's quarterfinal match with Baldwin Wallace, scheduled for Tuesday night at 7 pm, has been postponed until Wednesday at 7 pm at the ONU Sports Center.
The semifinals and finals remain scheduled for Friday and Saturday, as previously planned.
The OAC Men's Soccer Tournament has been shifted back one day in its entirety with the quarterfinals now being played on Wednesday, the semifinals on Friday and the finals on Sunday.
The No. 7-ranked and top-seeded Polar Bears have a first round bye and will host a semifinal match on Friday at 2 pm against either Capital or Heidelberg.
With a victory in the semifinals, ONU would host the finals Sunday at 1 pm.
The OAC Women's Soccer Tournament schedule is not affected. Fourth-seeded ONU will travel to top-seeded Otterbein for a semifinal match on Wednesday at 2 pm as previously scheduled.
Check back with ONUSports.com for updates to the schedule should they occur.
