Ohio Northern University to honor veterans
Ohio Northern University will celebrate the contributions of American service members with a number of activities beginning Nov. 5 and leading up to Veterans Day on Nov. 11.
On Nov. 5 and 6, from 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., there will be an Army National Guard display on the Tundra (behind English Chapel).
On Nov. 7, there will be a military-appreciation table in McIntosh Center. ONU community members are invite to sign cards, which then will be sent to active-duty military personnel.
On Nov. 8, there will be a special prayer for veterans during the Chapel hour at 11 a.m. Yellow ribbons in remembrance of those who served will be distributed throughout the week.
A wreath-laying ceremony will highlight the week of activities on Friday, Nov. 9. The ceremony will be held at the flagpole in front of Lehr Memorial and is open to the public. Following the ceremony, refreshments will be served to those in attendance.
Groups supporting the week include members of the Ohio Northern Veterans Organization, as well as members of ONU admissions, academic departments and staff members. This marks the fourth year that ONU has set aside time to reflect on and honor America’s men and women in uniform, and the observances are designed to raise awareness in the ONU community.
