Kiwanis Club will make donation to ReStore Beacon Fund

President Myrna McCurdy called the 9th meeting (November 27th) of the 2012–2013 Ada Kiwanis year to order at 12:00 noon at McIntosh Center, ONU.

The invocation was offered by Jon Umphress.
 

Allie Puntel and Katie Lorson, ONU Circle K were welcomed as guests.
  

In business:

  • Members heard an updated financial report from Treasurer Bryan Marshall. 
  • The club has been given the assignment for the basket room for the Ohio Kiwanis convention to be held in Lima August. The St. Mary’s will be joining us with this. The first organizational meeting will be in January, date and time to be announced. Myrna McCurdy and Jon Umphress will attend.
  • The club decided to make a donation to the Restore Beacon Fund.
  • President Myrna McCurdy again acknowledged the work done by so many for the successful Spaghetti Dinner project.
  • The club will hold its annual Christmas Luncheon/Auction from Jeannie’s Kitchen at the Ada Visiting Nurses Community Room.
  • Members were asked to bring donations (new or gently used) items for the Christmas gift auction. 
  • The member joke was presented by Peter Previte. 
  • Kiwanis Education Minute:  Kiwanis International Object 5: To provide, through Kiwanis clubs, a practical means to form enduring friendships, to render altruistic services and to build better communities.
  • Something to consider: from “Live and Learn and Pass it on,” said by a 65 year old. “I’ve learned if you pursue happiness, it will elude you. But if you focus on your family, the needs of others, your work, meeting new people, and doing the very best you can, happiness will find you.”
