Five named to NCAA Division III men's soccer All-Great Lakes Region teams
Five Ohio Northern men's soccer players were named to the NCAA Division III Men's Soccer All-Great Lakes Region teams.
Seniors Nate Bascom, Mac Church and Austin Windsor all earned First Team selections, while seniors Cameron Johnson and Chris Matejka were named to the Second Team.
Bascom earns his second straight All-Great Lakes Region selection. He was named as the Capital One Academic All-American of the Year.
He broke the single season record for points with 54 and assists with 18.
Bascom now concludes his career as ONU's all time points leader with 155 and all-time assists leader with 43.
Church notches his third straight All-Great Lakes Region honor. He recorded a school record 15 shutouts this season, including an amazing seven in a row.
Church is the school record holder with 47 career shutouts and ranks second in saves with 350.
Windsor was the anchor of the Polar Bear defense that gave up just 21 goals all season.
This will be the second consecutive season that he has been named All-Great Lakes Region.
Windsor posted a career high six goals this season and also tied a career high with three assists.
Johnson scored 13 goals this season and posted a career high in assists and points with nine and 35 respectively.
This is his third consecutive selection to the All-Great Lakes Region team.
Johnson ranks fourth in school history in goals with 45, is tied for ninth in assists with 23 and is fourth all-time with 113 points.
Matejka set career high's this season in goals with eight, assists with 10 and points with 26.
This is his first selection to the All-Great Lakes Region Team.
He ranks seventh in school history in career assists with 24.
Ohio Northern finished their season with a 25-3 record and advanced to the NCAA III Tournament Championship for the first time in school history.
The Polar Bears also won their second straight OAC Regular Season Championship and third consecutive OAC Tournament Title.
