The Ada Historical Society will hold its regular monthly meeting on Monday, Jan. 28, 2019 at 6:30 p.m. in the meeting room at the Ada Public Library, 320 N. Main St., Ada.

 

The Ohio Northern wrestling team will travel West to the Pete Willson Wheaton Invitational, which has been held annually since 1938.

Approximately 38 NCAA Division III schools are expected to compete in the double-elimination individual tournament

And, 11 of the 38 teams are ranked in the latest NWCA Top 25 poll.

On Friday, Prelims, Quarterfinals and wrestlebacks will be contested on six matches beginning at 11 a.m. (CST).

Saturday's competition will consist of Semifinals, wrestlebacks and the seventh place matches beginning at 10 am, with championship, third place and fifth place matches starting at 12:45 p.m.

Paulding stops Ada in NWC game

PAULDING - Host Paulding ran out to a big early lead and went on to beat Ada 66-39 in Northwest Conference girls basketball play Thursday night.

The purple and gold girls fell to 1-14 and 0-5 in the NWC with the loss, while the Lady Panthers improved to 7-9 and 2-4 in league play after the win.

Paulding led 34-9 at intermission, but Ada played the Panthers to a 32-30 second half.

"The first half was disappointing," said first-year Bulldog head coach Morgan Bass. "Then in the second half we scored 30. But they killed us on the boards.

Receives FAME award in Texas this weekend

She’s a national foodservice leader.

Carrie Woodruff, Ada High School grad and Ada resident, is the 2019 Foodservice Achievement Management Excellence (FAME) Silver Special Achievement Award recipient.

She is food service director of Lima City Schools. She will receive the award at the FAME award ceremony in Austin, Texas, during the School Nutrition Association’s School Nutrition Industry Conference this weekend. 

The award goes to a director who demonstrates exceptional ability to recognize and solve problems unique to small districts.

Pre-school to 6th grade clinics in February, details here

Attention all pre-schoolers all the way up to sixth grader who want to be a cheerleader.

This winter’s Ada basketball cheerleading clinic is set for three afternoons in February and sign-up deadline is Friday, Jan. 25.

Here’s the details:
Clinics are Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, Feb. 11-12-13, from 3:45 to 5 p.m. Practices will be in either the school cafeteria or the 1986 gym.

All participants will cheer during the halftime of the Ada boys’ versus Temple Christian basketball game on Saturday, Feb. 16. All participants will have a free admission to the game.
