Ada Kiwanis satellite club first meeting Feb. 13
Myrna McCurdy called the 15th meeting of the 2012–2013 Ada Kiwanis year to order 12 p.m. at McIntosh Center, ONU.
McCurdy also offered the invocation.
The membership anniversaries of Scott Wills (1/28/04), Joe Ferguson (1/28/04), Marilyn Green (2/1/93) and Peter Previte (2/1/11) were noted.
It was reported that Bryan Marshall’s daughter Meredith earned a spot in the district Science Fair. Myrna and Bob McCurdy noted that their son, Chris, was recently interviewed by NPR.
In business:
-Members were updated on club finances.
-An application for membership was received and approved from Rev. David MacDonald.
-On January 31st, an Ohio District Convention meeting site has been set for the Wingate Hotel, Lima, at 7:00 p.m.
-The Ohio Kiwanis Mid-Year Education Day will be held on March 8 in Lewis Center at the Conference Center at North Pointe Jeff Schulman and Jon Umphress are planning to attend.
-Jeff Schulman reported on the progress establishing a satellite club. The first meeting on Wednesday February 13th will be held at the Ada Visiting Nurses.
-John Berg noted that the Sign Committee is working on legal matters to get the signs in place.
-Pancake Day chair Heather Cox reported that progress is being made on various things and tickets are being ordered for the event. More details should be available next week.
-Members reported that Divisions 2 and 3 held a meeting January 23.
-Claudia Crawford reported that she will manage the Crock-pot Tuesday for February 19th. Shaggy Dogs will be provided.
-Bryan Marshall suggested that the club send the Circle K seniors/P5’s a letter to acknowledge their efforts as members. John Berg suggested that we have a celebration at a meeting. -Bill Fuller reported that ONU Circle K met and set-up a schedule of events. They have something to do almost every week this semester.
-Bob McCurdy reported that the Ada First Methodist Church will be rebuilt on the Main Street location.

Scott Allison gave an entertaining program on the Far Side cartoons by Gary Larson. The cartoon was carried by over 1,900 newspapers.
The Ada Kiwanis Club meets each Tuesday at 12 p.m. at McIntosh Center, ONU. Guests are always welcome.
