Michael Pawlitz and Cody Lovejoy record pins to lead No. 19 Wrestling to 31-7 victory at Washington & Lee
Senior Michael Pawlitz and sophomore Cody Lovejoy each recorded pins as the No. 19 Ohio Northern wrestling team defeated Washington & Lee (Va.) by a 31 score on Saturday afternoon.
With the win, Northern improves to 6-1 on the season, while the Generals fall to 0-6.
Pawlitz, ranked No. 9 at 197 pounds, recorded his team leading eighth pin on the season in 29 seconds.
Lovejoy notched his pin in 1:01 at 285 pounds.
Senior Jeremy Jones got the Polar Bears on the board first with a 6-0 victory at 133 pounds.
At 141 pounds, junior Cody Harting scored a 7-0 decision over Tyler Kaelin to put ONU up 6-0.
Washington & Lee would respond with a decision and major decision at 149 and 157 respectively, to take a 7-6 lead.
ONU would respond with freshman Tyler Gargano scoring a 6-0 decision at 165 pounds to put Northern back in front.
No. 1 Kyle Kwiat and senior Kyle Raber both registered tech falls at 174 and 184 pounds respectively to put the match away.
Pawlitz and Lovejoy both then registered pins for the Polar Bears.
Ohio Northern will return to action on Friday when they take part in the Lycoming (Pa.) Duals which begin at 9 am.
