No. 19 Ohio Northern opens OAC slate with 50-3 victory over Muskingum

No. 19-ranked Ohio Northern got pins from junior Jerry Pasquale and sophomore Cody Lovejoy and defeated Muskingum 50-3 in its Ohio Athletic Conference opener Tuesday night at the ONU Sports Center.
The Polar Bears improve to 12-2 overall and are 1-0 in OAC action, while the Muskies fall to 0-10, 0-1.
ONU took advantage of five forfeits and won nine of the 10 weight classes.
Pasquale got Ohio Northern off to a quick start with a pin in 1:28 at 125 pounds, improving to 16-6 on the season.
Muskingum forfeited the next four weight classes and ONU led 30-0 midway through the match.
Freshman Tyler Gargano then posted a 20-4 tech fall victory at 165 pounds and the Polar Bears led 35-0.
The fifth forfeit of the evening extended ONU's lead to 41-0.
Junior Michael Pawlitz then improved to 20-4 on the season with a solid 7-1 decision at 197 pounds.
Lovejoy wrapped up the victory with a pin in 1:15 at heavyweight. Lovejoy improves to 19-6 on the season.
The Polar Bears will return to action next Tuesday with a road tilt at John Carroll.
