Women's indoor track & field finishes second at OAC indoor split meet

The Ohio Northern women's track & field team finished second of five teams at the OAC Indoor Split Meet on Friday evening at Mount Union.

No. 10 Mount Union won the event with 264.5 points, Northern was second with 138 points, followed by Baldwin Wallace, John Carroll and Heidelberg.

The tandem of seniors Alison Steinbrunner and Lydia Weaver and sophomores Catie Huber and Shayla Siefker notched a first place finish in the DMR in 12:22.27.

In the 1,000 run, the Polar Bears had the top four finishers.

Steinbrunner was first, finishing in 3:02.83, Weaver was second with a time of 3:08.29, Huber was third and junior Brooke Larsen was fourth with times of 3:15.12 and 3:16.51 respectively.

Senior Casey Adamcik finished second in the 5,000 run in 18:54.83 and senior Sarah Turley was fifth with a time of 19:29.60.

Senior Emily Blum finished second in the triple jump, covering 9.76 meters, while freshman Kristine Wagner was third in the long jump, leaping 5.07 meters.

In the high jump, senior Vicki Moga finished second, clearing 1.60 meters.

Sophomore Gabrielle Metzner finished third in the 60 hurdles in 9.63 seconds.

Freshman Gabrielle Heck had a pole vault of 2.78 meters, which was good for a third place finish.

Siefker finished fourth in the 800 run in 2:29.17 and junior Laura Avino was fifth, crossing the finish line in 2:30.97.

The Polar Bears will be in action again on February 2, when they host the Joe Banks Invitational. Field events begin at 11 a.m. with the track events starting at noon.
