Ada VFW provides military rites for Larry Risner

Larry L. Risner, age 72, died Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at 5:24 PM at Kindred Hospital in Lima, Ohio.

He was born on October 19, 1940 in Hardin County, Ohio to Elmer R. and Ellen Elizabeth (Gilroy) Risner, who preceded him in death. He Married Dixie L. Calvert on September 15, 1958 and she died on July 5, 2000. He later married Rayola May Nighswander on April 19, 2002 and she survives in McGuffey.

Larry retired in 2000 from Rockwell International (Arvinmeritor) of Kenton after working 30 years as a machine operator. He attended the First United Methodist Church of Alger. Larry was a U.S. Army Veteran who served from 1958 to 1961 in the Military Police.

Also surviving are two sons: Roderick D. (Shellie) Risner of Ada & Christopher L. (Janie) Risner of McGuffey; a daughter, Rhonda D. (David) Pinkerton of Lima; two step-sons: Nick Tussing of Findlay & Travis Tussing of Lansing, MI.; five grandchildren: Trenton Risner, Kara Risner, Amanda (Keith) Mastran, Chelsea (Chris) Christie & Whitney L. Risner; five step grandchildren: Houston Tussing, Douglas Tussing, Maxwell Tussing, Benton DeLong & Annie DeLong; three great-grandchildren: Ava Martin, Austin Martin & Carter DeLong; a brother, Paul E. (Carolyn) Risner of Ada; two sisters: Judy L. Risner of Lima & Brenda J. Risner of Marion.

He was preceded in death by three brothers: Rev. Russell Risner, Joe Risner & Michael Risner; three sisters: Victoria Risner, Marilyn Rolston & Joyce Comer.

Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 11, at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Alger with Jerry Cramer & Pastor Ken VanHoose officiating.

Burial will be in McDonald-Fairview Cemetery, Kenton, with graveside military services conducted by the Ada VFW Post #9381 Honor Guard.

Friends may call 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 10, at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Alger and until time of service on Monday at the funeral home.
