On Saturday, Aug. 11, at 9 p.m., Steve Rice of the Millstream Astronomy Club will present a program about the Perseid Meteor Shower at Hancock Park District’s (HPD) Riverbend Recreation Area, Shelter 5. Following the show, participants will safely observe Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune, Uranus and of course, the Perseid Meteor Shower. Look through the club’s telescopes or bring your own; the club can help you with set up.

All ages are welcome to attend this free program. Registration is not required. 

Ada's Main Street is a flower garden this summer. Here's one of the arrangements in front of the railroad park.

Ada board of education will hold a special meeting at 5:30 p.m., Monday, Aug. 13. The meeting will be in executive session to consider the appointment, employment, dismissal, discipline, promotion, demotion or compensation of a public employee.

Mary E. Amos, age 78, died on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at 3:22 AM at VanCrest of Ada. 
She was born on April 8, 1940 in Greenup, Kentucky to Bunyon and Lula (DeRossett) Coburn who preceded her in death. Mary married Robert Dale Robinson who preceded her in death. 

She later married Lester Lee Amos, Sr. and they divorced. 

Mary retired after working 30 years as a packer for Wilson Sporting Goods of Ada. 

She lived for her children and grandchildren.
