The Ohio Northern men's tennis team picked a nonconference victory over Division II Malone by a 9-0 score on Tuesday afternoon at the ONU Sports Center.
The win improves the Polar Bears record to 6-4 on the season, while the Pioneers fall to 8-9.
ONU started the match by winning all three doubles courts.
The tandem of freshman John Mostowy and junior Josh Saunders posted a dominating 8-1 win at No. 2 doubles.
Sophomore Sam Prewitt and junior Blake Troller picked up an 8-3 victory at No. 3 doubles and senior Joey Frank and junior Do Thai erased a late break to win a thrilling 9-8(5) contest at No. 1 doubles.
In singles play, Troller won 6-0, 6-3 at No. 5 singles.
Saunders was down 2-5 in the first set, but stormed back to win the set and match by a 7-5, 6-0 score at No. 3 singles.
Thai and Frank both scored 7-5, 6-1 wins at No. 3 and No. 1 singles respectively.
Mostowy scored a 7-5, 6-0 win at No. 4 singles and senior Mike King finished off the shutout with a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles.
"I thought we adjusted well to playing inside today," said head coach Bob Rohan. "We had a lot of tight first sets. After we won them, we were able to keep our composure and put the matches away."
Ohio Northern will return to action on Friday, when it hosts OAC foe Marietta at 3:30 pm.
