ONU presents reading by author Simone Muench
The Ohio Northern University Department of English presents author Simone Muench in the Pettit College of Law Moot Court room on Thursday, April 4, at 7 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
Muench was raised in Louisiana and Arkansas and now lives in Chicago. She is the author of “The Air Lost in Breathing” (Marianne Moore Prize for Poetry), “Lampblack & Ash” (Kathryn A. Morton Prize for Poetry), “Orange Crush,” and “Disappearing Address,” co-written with Philip Jenks.
After receiving her Ph.D. from the University of Illinois at Chicago, Muench began directing the writing program at Lewis University, where she teaches creative writing and film studies. Currently, she serves on the advisory board for Switchback Books, is an editor for Sharkforum and serves as chief faculty advisor for Jet Fuel Review.
Muench is the recipient of the 2013 NEA Fellowship for Poetry, two Illinois Arts Council Fellowships, two Vermont Studio Center Fellowships (2011 and 2012), the 49th Parallel Award for Poetry, the AWP Intro Journals Project Award, the Poetry Center’s 9th Annual Juried Reading Award, the Frederick Stern Award for Teaching, a 2013 Lewis Faculty Scholar Award, and the PSA’s Bright Lights/Big Verse Contest.
