Women's tennis tops Wittenberg 9-0; opens OAC play with 9-0 win over Wilmington

The Ohio Northern women's tennis team picked up a pair of 9-0 victories over Wittenberg and Wilmington on Saturday at Westwood Tennis & Fitness Club.
The Polar Bears are now 11-3 on the season and 1-0 in OAC play. Wittenberg falls to 3-5 and Wilmington is now 0-1, 0-1.
Against Wittenberg, Northern dropped only four games on its way to sweeping all three doubles courts.
Sophomore Brittany Miller and junior Carly Olmstead won 8-0 at No. 2 doubles.
Sophomore Kristin Cellentani and freshman Taryn Stromback won 8-1 at No. 3 doubles and freshman Rachael Miller and junior Michelle Tuma won 8-3 at No. 1 doubles.
In singles play, Tuma won 6-3, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, freshman Christina Corbean won 6-2, 6-0 at No. 2 singles and Cellentani scored a 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles.
Freshman Meghan Letizia, Brittany Miller and Stromback all won 8-0 at No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 singles respectively.
Against Wilmington, ONU did not drop a game in doubles play.
Rachael Miller and Tuma won at No. 1 doubles, Corbean and Letizia won at No. 2 doubles and junior Lauren Rife and Stromback won at the No. 3 position.
Tuma scored a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles, Letizia won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles and Stromback won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles.
At No. 4 singles, Rachael Miller won by a 6-0, 6-0 score, while Rife scored a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles.
Junior Kelsi Wurm picked up a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 5 singles.
Ohio Northern will return to the court on Tuesday when it hosts Division II Walsh at 4 p.m.
