Juanita O. Holbrook, 1917 - 2013
Juanita O. Holbrook, age 96, died Saturday, March 30, 2013, at 3:10 a.m. at Hardin Hills Health Center, Kenton.
She was born March 23, 1917 in Johnson County, Kentucky, to Labe and Louisa (Williams) Pelphrey and they preceded her in death. On May 31, 1947, she married Turner Holbrook and he preceded her in death on January 15, 1992.
Juanita was a homemaker, mother, caregiver, and gardener. She became a member of the Paintsville United Baptist Church on January 5, 1935. She attended Lonesome Valley United Baptist Church, Alger. She was a member of the former Order of Eastern Star Chapter #6 of Ada and a member of the Alger Royal Neighbors.
Surviving are a daughter, Myra Jayne (William) Hawley of Ada; one granddaughter, Rochelle Nichole (James) Neiswander of Ada; one step granddaughter, Rachel Hawley of Atlanta, GA; two great grandsons, Zachary William Turner Neiswander & Samuel Jamison Lee Neiswander both of Ada; one sister, Doris Jean Border of Waverly.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Vencil L. Pelphrey & Thomas H. Pelphrey, and five sisters, Agnes Howard, Opal Pelphrey, Mary Margaret Pelphrey, Oka McKenzie, & Bonnie Lou Castle.
A funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada, with Pastor Jack Duffy and David Holbrook officiating. Burial will be in Preston Cemetery, Alger.
Friends may call 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada, and until the time of service at the funeral home on Wednesday.
Memorial Contributions can be made to the Hardin Hills Activity Fund.
