Men's tennis clinches share of OAC regular season title with 9-0 win over Capital

The Ohio Northern men's tennis team clinched a share of the OAC regular season championship with a 9-0 win over Capital on Wednesdat afternoon at the ONU Sports Center.
The Polar Bears are now 14-4 overall and 8-0 in the OAC, while the Crusaders drop to 11-4 overall and 6-1 in the OAC.
This is the Polar Bears third OAC regular season title in the last four seasons.
Northern can clinch the OAC regular season championship outright with a win over Muskingum on Saturday afternoon at the University Courts at 1 pm.
In doubles play, the No. 1 duo of senior Joey Frank and junior Do Thai won 8-4.
The No. 2 pairing of junior Josh Saunders and John Mostowy, also were victorious with an 8-6 win.
Junior Blake Troller and sophomore Sam Prewitt took No. 3 doubles with an 8-5 score.
Frank and Thai also won No. 1 and 2 singles matches, 6-0, 6-1 and 6-0, 6-0, respectively, while Saunders won No. 3 singles, 6-1, 6-0.
At No. 4 singles Mostowy won 6-3, 6-3 and Troller won No. 5 singles, 6-3, 6-0.
Senior Mike King battled at No. 6 singles to come out on top with a 7-6 (0), 6-4 win.
The win also gives ONU the top seed in the OAC Tournament. Northern will host the OAC quarterfinals on Tuesday against an opponent that has yet to be determined at 3:30 p.m.
