Men's tennis wins OAC regular season title with 9-0 sweep of Muskingum

The Ohio Northern men's tennis team clinched the Ohio Athletic Conference regular season title outright with a 9-0 win against Muskingum on Saturday afternoon at University Courts.

The Polar Bears finish the regular season 15-4 overall and 9-0 in the OAC, while the Muskies fall to 0-11, 0-9.

This is the Polar Bears' third OAC regular season title in last four years and their fifth title in the last seven years.

Ohio Northern dominated Muskingum, winning all nine matches without losing a game.

The No. 1 doubles tandem of senior Joey Frank and Do Thai won 8-0, while junior Josh Saunders and freshman John Mostowy took No. 2 doubles 8-0.

No. 3 doubles pair of senior Taylor Zank and senior Matt Madsen finished the doubles sweep with a 8-0 victory.

Northern won all six singles matches by identical 6-0, 6-0 scores.

Frank, Thai and Saunders won at Nos. 1, 2 and No. 3 singles, respectively, Mostowy won at No. 4 singles, junior Blake Troller won at No. 5 singles and senior Mike King rounded out the match with a win at No. 6 singles.

Top-seeded Ohio Northern will host eighth-seeded Wilmington on Tuesday in the quarterfinals of the OAC Tournament. The match is set to begin at 3:30 p.m.
