Ohio Northern University’s symphonic band to perform
The Ohio Northern University symphonic band, Northern Winds, and the All-Ohio Honors Band will perform as part of the Spring Band Festival XXXVIII in the Freed Center for the Performing Arts on Sunday, April 28, at 4 p.m.
The 70-member Northern Winds will perform a concert that features “Overture to Candide” by Leonard Bernstein and “Abram’s Pursuit” by guest conductor David Holsinger. The program also includes John Mackey’s “Xerxes” conducted by Samantha Riedlinger, a senior music education major from Sycamore, Ohio.
A rendition of “Black is the Color of My True Love’s Hair” will showcase the talents of Alex Koenig (alto saxophone), a senior psychology major from Mentor, Ohio, and Kaitlyn Wilson (flute), a third-year pharmacy major from Bellefontaine, Ohio.
A highlight of the Spring Band Festival is the All-Ohio Honors Band, which features more than 120 gifted instrumentalists from across the state.
Tickets are $15 for general admission, $12 for seniors and non-ONU students, $9 for children, and $5 for ONU students. The Freed Center box office is open Monday through Friday from noon to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
