Ada HS junior, Alexis Gonzaga: She's lived in nine states
The Ada Icon talked with Alexis Gonzaga, an Ada junior recently.
What classes are you taking this semester?
English College Prep 11, Anatomy, Pre-Calculus, Spanish III, Government, Yearbook and I am an office worker.
You’ve played basketball and softball. Tell us about your best-ever games.
In basketball I play guard. In softball, centerfield. My best basketball game was at New Riegel. I had a great defensive game. In softball, this year against LCC I hit a walk-off double.
Are you thinking about college?
I’d like to go into physical therapy. I’m looking at Ohio State, Miami, Toledo and Cincinnati. Ohio State is in the lead. I’ll start applying in the fall.
When did you move to Ada?
In the eighth grade.
What’s your favorite all-time movie?
Titanic. I’ve watched it a lot. I can turn off the sound and mouth the script. I’ve always loved it.
How about the worst movie?
Super 8. It was really awful. It was about kid super heroes. I watched it when I was a freshman.
What’s on your pizza?
Pepperoni.
Can you tell me about your first-ever tee-peeing experience in Ada?
In the eighth grade I went with Katelyn Guagenti, Gabe Sutton, Nick Simon, Court Everhardt and some others I can’t remember. We went to Saed’s house. He knew we were coming. We were chased by the cops and escaped to a friend’s house where we went into the basement and hid. It was fun. There was lots of toilet paper.
Tell me about your worst-ever grade.
It was a C in chemistry. It was on my grade card. Chemistry was really hard, but I did my best.
What did you wear to prom? And, are you thinking about next year’s prom?
A black and silver dress with sequins. We went to the Tokyo Steak House in Findlay. Yeah, I’m thinking about next year. I think I’ll wear something red.
What car did you take your driver’s test in and did you pass the first time?
It was a 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier. I took it in Lima and passed the first time. I drive that car school.
What subject are you probably least interested in, and what one are you most interested in?
History is probably the subject I’m least interested in. I’m really interested in physical therapy. I had physical therapy for six weeks on a knee when I was a freshman. I tore my meniscus playing sports.
Are you a picky eater?
Yes. I don’t like milk, don’t like seafood. It’s slimy. I don’t like textured food either.
Is there something you’ve done that no other student in Ada has done?
I’ve lived in nine states.
Name them.
California, Montana, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Massachusetts, Michigan, Ohio, back to California, back to Ohio, Texas and back to Ohio.
Whoa! How did you do that?
My dad’s job. He’s a football coach. Defensive coordinator at Ohio Northern.
Where do you see yourself living in 10 years?
Myrtle Beach, South Carolina or Miami, Florida. Somewhere warm.
It was nice talking with you. Have a great summer.
