Ada ReStore and Food Pantry benefit from ONU "Don't Throw It Out" program
This year, as part of a campus recycling effort, Bill Kent, manager Mail Center and Recyling at Ohio Northern University implemented a program called, "When You Move Out, Don't Throw It Out."
It works like this, according to Kent: "As the ONU students prepare to move out for the summer, the campus dumpsters are usually full of items that could be used by someone.
"So, instead of filling the dumpsters, student will bring items in good condition to the ONU Distribution Center (old bowling alley)."
This is for all on- and off-campus students. This program runs from Monday, May 6, through Friday, May. The following week, all of the items collected will be donated to the Ada Restore.
Using the same program, Kent also is accepting student donations for non-perishable foods and paper products. All of these items will be donated to the Ada Food Pantry.
“As part of recycling, it is our goal to give back to the community and recycle, reduce and reuse!” Kent told The Ada Icon.
Collections for both will be Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
