Ethel Amburgey owned and operated Ada Motel until her retirement
Ethel G. (Sizemore) Amburgey, age 93, died Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at 5:35 p.m. at Richland Manor Nursing Home, Bluffton.
She was born on October 24, 1919 in Bull Creek, KY. to John and Hettie (Gray) Sizemore, who preceded her in death. On December 27, 1941 she married Irvin N. Amburgey, who preceded her in death on November 18, 1993.
Ethel was a homemaker. She owned and operated the Ada Motel until her retirement. She worked many years as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Lackey Hospital in Lackey, KY and also worked at the Ada Nursing Home for over 15 years.
Surviving are two sons: John A. (Patricia) Amburgey and Kenneth R. (Wilma) Amburgey both of Ada; five grandchildren: John (Tracie) Amburgey, Christina (Scott) Williams, Jennifer (Guy) Oakley, Erin (Paul) Sood and Stephen Amburgey; six great grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy Porter of Westland, Michigan.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Martha Sue Amburgey; four sisters: Marthie Sizemore, Florabelle Gayhart, Stella Chandley and Rhodie Lafferty; two brothers: Sam Sizemore and John "J.P." Sizemore
Funeral services will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 11, at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada with Pastor H.M. "Gus" Guthrie. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Ada.
Friends may call 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. on Friday, May 10, at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada and until time of service on Saturday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers the family request memorial contributions to be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
