Update from the Ada Kiwanis Club

President Myrna McCurdy called the weekly meeting of the Ada Kiwanis Club order at noon on Tuesday, May 21, at McIntosh Center, ONU.

The invocation was offered by Jon Umphress.

In business:
-Secretary Brian Myer reported that a thank you note was received from the Ada Public Library thanking the membership for a donation to the library’s Summer Reading Program.
-Certified Leadership training for club officers will be held in Findlay on June 1.
-A final report on the 2013 Pancake Day was circulated.
-The next satellite club meeting will be held on Wednesday, May 22, 6 p.m. at China King.
-Joe Ferguson and Heather Cox reported on the Buy Ada First event Chicken BBQ event. 
-President McCurdy reported that she presented club scholarships to four Ada High School students at the annual awards dinner. She also circulated a sign-up sheet for assistance in the Basket Room at the Ohio Kiwanis Convention set for August.
-Tuesday, May 28, is the deadline for registering for the Wednesday, June 5 Division Meeting to be held in Delphos. Those planning on attending include: Jon Umphress, Jeff Schulman and Brian Myers.
-Sandy Neely reported that she has been in contact with the Swim Lessons project and she is looking at two weeks in July. More details will follow. She is looking for people to push paperwork and to be in the pool with the kids.
-The club will be honoring former club member Von M. “Spot” Spellman on Tuesday, July 9, by planting a new tree at War Memorial Park.
-Joe Ferguson reported on Petal Tractor Pull at the Farmers Merchants Picnic in August. This is the 100th year anniversary of the event. 
-The club will support Gabriella Linnon of Ada to attend the Hugh O’Brian Youth Seminar in to be held June  

Something to consider:
From “Live and Learn and Pass it On,” from someone who is 77 years old; “I’ve learned that if you can’t forgive and forget, you can at least forgive and move on.” And from a 6 year old: “I’ve learned that if you put a June bug down a girl’s dress, she goes crazy.”
