Visibility is limited on State Route 81 east of Ada this week as the highway gets a tar and stone treatment. With each passing vehicle, as the stone is still loose, this is the visible result. The Ada Zoning Board of Appeals will hear an appeal of the zoning officer, by the owner of 544 W. Buckeye, in a public hearing at 3 p.m., Tuesday, June 30.
The owner of 544 W. Buckeye has been notified that she must provide hard-surface, off-street parking for her tenants as per Ada Ordinance #1166.03.
The hearing will occur at the Ada Village offices located at 115 W. Buckeye.
Claire A. Harter, 67, passed away on Tuesday, June 16, 2020, at 1 p.m. at Lima Memorial Health System.
She was born on Oct. 9, 1952, in Mt. Vernon, Ohio, to the late Karl B. and H. Joanne (Ankerman) Engelhardt.
Claire worked at Sodexho at Ohio Northern University, Ada as a cook. She was also a housemother for the Theta Chi Fraternity at Ohio Northern University. She was a member of the Alger First United Methodist Church and was a member of the United Methodist Women. Claire was a member of the Royal Neighbors. She was a 1970 graduate of USV and a graduate of Ohio Northern University with a degree in Biology and Pharmacy.

Summer workshop
A summer workshop providing demonstrations on how to plant succulent planters and fairy gardens is set.
Ada council will act on five ordinances tonight (Tuesday, June 16) concerning bond sales.
The action will be considered as emergency ordinances. Each ordinance provides for the issuance and sale of bonds. The bond totals follow:
Ordinance 2020-04
$2.1 million for refunding debt charges, saving the village’s outstanding various-purpose improvement and refunding bonds from October 2013.
Ordinance 2020-05
$640,000 for paying costs of improvements to the municipal swimming pool.
Ordinance 2020-06
$425,000 for paying costs of improvements to the municipal building.
The Ohio Northern University Child Development Center has a couple openings for preschoolers this fall, according to June Zimmerman, director.
The Center, located at 209 S. Union St., Ada, operates full-day and half-day preschool programs.
