John David Boyd, 1948-2013
John David Boyd, age 65, died on Friday, July 5, 2013 at 11:03 p.m. at Lima Memorial Health System, Lima.
He was born on June 9, 1948, in Floyd County, Kentucky to Emmitt and Blanche (Van Hoose) Boyd. His father died shortly before his birth and he was raised by his mother and step-father, George and Blanche Collins, Sr., who are also deceased. He was previously married to Joanne (Jaycox) Boyd of Ada.
John retired in 2008 from Whirlpool Corp. of Findlay after 37 years where he was a supervisor. He as a 1966 graduate of Martin High School in Prestonsburg, KY. He was also a graduate with an associate degree from the former Northwestern Business College, Lima. John was a 1968-1970 US Army veteran serving in Vietnam. He was a former Quartermaster and Commander of the Ada VFW Post #9381. John attended the Wapakoneta Community Worship Center.
Surviving are three daughters: Sherri Boyd of San Diego, CA, Stacey (George) Park of Ada, and Carrie (Marc) McClain of Saint Marys; three brothers: Mike (Vicki) Boyd of Prestonsburg, KY, George (Vicki) Collins of Kenton, and Greg (Rita) Collins of Arlington; two sisters: Mavis (Ken) Allen of Alger and Vivian Collins of Ada; and 7 grandchildren: Tyler Park, Austin Park, Zachariah Park, Jacob Park, Madison Park, Marcus McClain, and Caiden McClain.
He was preceded in death by one brother, James Emmitt Boyd, one sister-in-law, Bonnie Boyd and his mother and father-in-law, Vada and Harrison Jaycox.
Arrangements are imcomplete at this time.
