Kiwanis Club serves 330 chicken barbecue meals during Music on Main
President Myrna McCurdy called the weekly meeting of the Ada Kiwanis Club to order on Tuesday July 16 at 12 noon at the News China Restaurant in downtown Ada.
Jon Umphress offered the invocation.
The birthday of Member Harold Friesner (July 21st) was noted.
In business:
-Treasurer Bryan Marshall updated members on club finances. Marshall also reported on the successful Chicken BBQ held on Friday July 13th. The club served 330 meals.
-Joe Ferguson reported noted he was working on rescheduling the Memorial Tree Dedication.
-Dawn Christensen, Executive Director of The Sight Center would like to do a program for club. Secretary Brian Myers has all of the information.
-There was no meeting last week for the satellite club. The next meeting is set for Wednesday July 17, 6 p.m. at Community Health Professionals.
-Joe Ferguson reported that the entrance signs should be installed this Wednesday.
-The Early Bird date for the Ohio District Convention in Lima must be postmarked by July 19. Mike Hood agreed to be in charge of the club’s basket or baskets for the District Convention.
Kiwanis Education Minute:
For the Eliminate Project Kiwanis International is hoping that each member can contribute $750 US dollars for this project and become a Model Club. As of March 16, the Carolinas: 24, Texas/Oklahoma 20, Southwest 19, and all together 360 clubs have made the challenge.
Something to consider:
From “Live and Love and Pass it On” from a 26 year old, “I’ve learned that if you try to be perfect, you’ll be frustrated all of the time.” And from a 29 year old, “I’ve learned that whenever I’m in a big hurry, the person in front of me isn’t.”
