Kiwanis Club's annual tree planting July 10 at Ada Park
President Myrna McCurdy called the July 2 meeting of the Ada Kiwanis Club to order at noon at McIntosh Center, ONU.
The invocation was offered by Jon Umphress.
The birthday of Joe Ferguson (July 6th) was noted in song.
Joe also reported there are some extra plants installed at the north and south village limit signs.
Sharon MacKenzie reported that there were two nice articles in the newspaper about the Ada Restore. She also was able to get our banner updated with our recent club patches.
In business:
-Treasurer Bryan Marshall updated member on club finances.
-The satellite club met on June 26. The next meeting will be at Community Health Professionals building on Wednesday July 3 at 6 p.m.
-The club’s annual tree planting for a former member will be held on Wednesday July 10th at Ada Park in the 4H Shelter house at 6 p.m..
-Volunteers are need for assistance in teaching swimming lessons. Member Sandy Neely will be the instructor. Lessons (Levels 1 and 2) are from 11:30-12:30 p.m. Update on the sign. It is production we will not hear anything until the end of June—no real report
-Mike Hood has agreed to put together a basket for the club for the District Convention in August.
-Joe Ferguson noted that members will be needed for Kiwanis Tractor Pull for children at the Farmers and Merchants Picnic. Joe needs the majority of people there from 10:15 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
Kiwanis Education Minute:
The new International Officers elected at International Convention were : President – Gunter Gasser –Austria District; Pres. Elect – John R. Button – Eastern Canada and Caribbean District; V. President – Susan A. Petrisin –Michigan District.
Something to consider:
From “Live and Love and Pass it On” from a 6 yr. old, “I’ve learned that the older I get, the less attention I get.” And from a 75 year old, “I’ve learned that there is always someone who cares.”
