Kiwanis Club honors Von M. "Spot" Spellman with tree planting
Ada Kiwanis member Charles Van Dyne presents a special photo to Patsy Evans, of Ada. Evans' father, Von M. "Spot" Spellman, who was honored for his longtime Kiwanis service by the planting of a tree by the club in Ada's War Memorial Park.
The recent Kiwanis meeting was held to honor former Kiwanian, Von M. “Spot” Spellman. Normally, the dedication is held at War Memorial Park, but with the threat of prediction of inclement weather, the event was moved in-doors.
Long-time member Charles Van Dyne commented on the many activities that Spellman was involved in the Ada community, noting his long and dedicated service as Ada Postmaster and his concern with youth of our community. He also spoke about Spellman’s Kiwanis service to the Ada club.
Spellman’s daughter, Patsy Evans thanked the club the wonderful evening honoring her and the planting of a tree in the local park in his memory. She was presented a photograph of her father marking the occasion.
Fifteen former Ada Kiwanians have been honored since 1999. They include: Everett F. Ludwig (1999); Barton F. Snyder (2000); Daryl E. Baker (2001); Walter S. Sousley (2002); Wilbur E.
