Ada's latest news

Dad, will you make one for me?

By Monty Siekerman
Call him an inventor, designer, engineer, tinkerer—but mostly call him a loving father.

Dustin Risser of Ada put many pieces together from a wagon, golf cart, mini bike, and his own imagination to come up with a wagon for his little girl, Petra, 17 months.

The pair were spotted at the F&M picnic on Saturday at Ada War Memorial Park. Dustin said, “I’ve always liked to build stuff. Why have a boring wagon?” The wagon is big enough to accommodate the little one and all of her paraphernalia, like stuffed animals.

The Gold Seal of Approval and the Heart-Check mark

Blanchard Valley Health System (BVHS) has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval and the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s Heart-Check mark for Advanced Certification for Primary Stroke Centers.

The Gold Seal of Approval and the Heart-Check mark represent symbols of quality from their respective organizations.

BVHS underwent a rigorous onsite review where Joint Commission experts evaluated compliance with stroke-related standards and requirements, including program management, the delivery of clinical care and performance improvement.

The Village of Ada offices report that Gilbert Street, from Buckeye to Lincoln, will be closed from Tuesday until Friday this week for railroad crossing repair. The closure was requested by United Railroad Service, Inc.

Ada's community reunion is called Farmers & Merchants Picnic

By Monty Siekerman
The day dawned bright and shiny for the 105th annual Farmers and Merchants picnic. A nice day brings out the crowd for the downtown parade (see Ada Icon parade photos on Monday evening), the picnic, the entertainment, free swimming, and a day of visiting  friends and neighbors at Ada War Memorial Park. In a way, the F&M is like a community reunion since many of those who moved away return to visit those they have known.
