Sophomore Ellie Gillespie named OAC Volleyball Player of the Week

Ohio Northern sophomore Ellie Gillespie was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week for the week of Sept 23-29.
Gillespie tied a season-high with 15 kills to lead the Ohio Northern volleyball team to a 25-21, 25-11, 25-17 victory over area-rival Bluffton Wednesday night in the ONU Sports Center.
On Saturday, Gillespie recorded 12 digs and 11 kills to help Ohio Northern to a 25-15, 25-21, 25-21 win over Capital.
Against Bluffton and Capital, Gillespie had a total of 26 kills, 19 digs and 3 aces.
This year, Gillespie also was named Most Valuable Player at the ONU Invitational.
The Polar Bears will return to action Saturday with a home contest against No. 8-ranked Mount Union.
