Ohio Northern rolls out the orange carpet for homecoming
Ohio Northern University will celebrate Homecoming 2013 from Oct. 18-20. All alumni, friends, family, faculty and students are welcome to attend.
Homecoming weekend will kick off on Friday with continuing education sessions in the Pettit College of Law at 1 p.m. and the T.J. Smull College of Engineering at 6:30 p.m.
At 6:30 p.m., four former athletes and supporters will be honored during the ONU Athletic Hall of Fame induction ceremony and banquet.
The 14th annual Stefanie Spielman Walk/Run for Breast Cancer Awareness kicks things off Saturday morning at 8:30 a.m., followed by many activities, including tours of the various colleges and the traditional Homecoming parade at 10:30 a.m. The ONU student chapter of the National Community Pharmacy Association will hold a health fair in the McIntosh activities room beginning at 8 a.m.
A family-friendly tailgate party begins at 11:30 a.m. before the Homecoming game against Marietta. Music, games, carnival rides and food will be available for all to enjoy. This year, the tailgate picnic and organizational booths will be on the Tundra, while the carnival rides will remain at the stadium. Tailgate tickets can be purchased through the Office of Alumni Relations.
Prior to the game, ONU will recognize the newest members of the ONU Athletic Hall of Fame and members of 1993 national championship basketball team.
The entertainment for Saturday evening includes the sixth annual Sigma Phi Epsilon Balloon Glow at 6:30 p.m. and fireworks at approximately 7:45 p.m. The ONU Symphony Orchestra will headline this year’s Homecoming concert with a performance of Disney classics in the Freed Center for the Performing Arts at 8:30 p.m.
