Ada Kiwanis hears about Gliding Stars Program

President Heather Cox called the weekly meeting of the Ada Kiwanis Club to order at 12:00 noon on Tuesday November 4th at McIntosh Center, Ohio Northern University, Ada.

The birthdays if member Bill Fuller (November 4th) was noted.
Charles Van Dyne reported that Peter Previte is doing fine after surgery and should be home this weekend. Myrna McCurdy also reported that Al Bailis is doing well after a visit last week.
In business:

-Members heard an updated financial report from Treasurer Bryan Marshall.

-The satellite club reported that they met last week. They are looking at pediatric boards for the EMT’s and care bears for children being transported by the squad. They will meet tomorrow at 6 PM at Community Health Professionals’ building.

-The first board meeting of the year will follow the regular club meeting today.
The club will need to provide food for the Monday November 11th blood drive at the Community Health Professionals Building. The event is from 11:30 – 5:30 p.m.

-The club’s Christmas Party is set for Tuesday December 17th. A committee has been assigned and they will work out the details.

-The ONU Circle K club reported that they made about $50 for the Kiwanis Eliminate project with ghostliest and they collected about 20 bags of cans for the trick-or-can event. Circle K participates in Operation Christmas Child every November. We are assembling the boxes on November 12th and were hoping to get the boxes before then. -Kiwanis Education Minute: The third Object of Kiwanis International is: “To promote the adoption and the application of higher social, business, and professional standards.”

-Something to Ponder: Why is it called a TV “set” when you only get one?

President Heather Cox showed a documentary that features Jackson in the Gliding Stars Program in Findlay.
 

-Gliding Stars, Inc. was originally founded in 1994 by Elizabeth M. O'Donnell. Ms. O'Donnell is an accomplished figure skater who turned her talents toward providing an extensive program of adaptive ice skating for people of all ages and challenges.
She did this so that they could experience a part of normal life and the life-changing effects of regular exercise, social interaction, teamwork, family sharing, and a few hours of fame during the end-of-season Ice Extravaganza performance!.

The Ada Kiwanis Club meets at 12:00 noon on Tuesdays at McIntosh Center, ONU. Guests are always welcome.
