Birchel Conley 1931-2013
Birchel P. "Bert" Conley, 82, died Sunday Dec. 1, 2013, at 4:42 a.m. at Lima Memorial Health System, Lima.
He was born Aug. 30, 1931 in Garrett, Kentucky, to Tandy and Maudie (Bolen) Conley and they preceded him in death. On Dec. 6, 1952, he married Dorothy Cramer and she died on Nov. 4, 1992. He later married Revel (McIntosh) Wibright on Oct. 12, 1993 and she survives in Ada.
Bert retired after working 30 years for the City of Dayton Prison System in the Maintenance Department. He was a member of the Alger First United Methodist Church. He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during the Korean Conflict from 1950 to 1954. He was a member of the U.S.V. Lions Club, McGuffey Conservation Club and a life member of the Ada V.F.W. Post#9381.
Bert is survived by 2 sons; Jeff Conley and Stephen Conley both of Dayton, Ohio, One Daughter, Sherrie Owens of Dayton, Ohio, 2 stepsons; James (Sheran) Wibright of Atwater, California, Rick Wibright of Findlay, Ohio, 4 stepdaughters; Donna (David) Hedges of Harrod, Ohio, Connie( Douglas) Crawford, Ada, Ohio, LaVonna (Dwane) Stout of Seymour, Indiana, Vicky (David) Shadley of Horicon, Wisconsin, 2 sisters; Mary Howard of McGuffey, Ohio and Halie Nichols of Harrod, Ohio, 20 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, 1 great great granddaughter.
Bert is preceded in death by 3 brothers; David, Bill, and Edward Conley, 3 sisters; Luna Jennings, Carolyn Conley, and Audrey Shields.
Funeral Service will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday , Dec. 4, at the Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada, with Rev. Calvin Waugh officiating. Burial will be in Preston Cemetery, Alger, with graveside military rites by the Ada V.F.W. Post #9381 Honor Guard.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 3, at the Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada , and until time of service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Charity of the Donor's Choice.
